Traumatic Brain Injury
Accident victims often don’t realize they may have a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) if they do not have an obvious head wound or are not incapacitated. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2020 there were more than 220,000 TBI-related hospitalizations (CDC). There are three types of TBI ranging from Mild, Moderate, and severe. TBI can happen to anyone, at any age, with the elderly being the most likely to become incapacitated. The leading causes of TBI are falls, nursing home neglect, motor vehicle accidents, physical assault, workplace accidents, and firearms.
